Inter Hotel Challenge – Cape Grace Hotel

This is a fabulous event – each year, up and coming chefs and sommeliers from the finest hotels around the country, participate in the Inter Hotel Challenge. To come up with the best menu, breads, and wine pairings around. The winners then get to make their course at a gala affair attended by over 25 top hotels from around the country and the awards are handed out.

I had the privilege of designing a table on behalf of the ladies at Blank Canvas, for the Cape Grace Hotel – The Cape Grace features proteas and fynbos in all their public areas and wanted these flowers included in their table setting once again.

There are prizes for the best dressed table I must add, so the competition is fierce.

I loved the many beautiful local flora that were included in this centrepiece – from the african orchids hanging from the stand, to the king proteas, cobra lilies, aloes & aloe flowers, strelitzias, as well as locally growing grasses like restios, bunny tails and the like complemented by the burnt orange table cloth, gold cutlery and amber glasses – all combined for a beautiful final table.
