The business of flowers Gauteng 2018 at Hertford House
I love flowers
I love people
I love teaching
Being able to put all 3 together into 1 package deal was just the tops for me. I had the honour of putting together my first Gauteng-based Business of Flowers workshop this year, teaching floral design- & business theory as well as mechanics with practical sessions to a bunch of wonderful ladies and a few men.
I have nearly 12 years of experience in the floral industry and more specifically the wedding industry. I have had businesses both in Gauteng and more recently Cape Town, where I have worked at many wonderful venues and learned a huge amount about many aspects of flowers and wedding productions.
I also attend at least 1 floral workshop a year, mostly with international teachers, like Gregor Lersch, one of the kings of mechanics and multi-winner of the European Cup of Floristry, as well as being a member of the international group of Chapel Designers, where I have many wonderful floral designers and business owners as peers, to network with and learn from.
So to combine all of my learning and experience and pass it onto other flower lovers, is a huge joy for me. Seeing attendees learn something valuable and realising how they can solve a problem is totally amazing for me. And watching them and their businesses grow into the future is even more delightful.
my enormous thanks to Lisinda and her team from Vintage Orchid Events, The Hertford Hotel for accommodating and looking after us, AMP flowers for the incredible selection of blooms and fabulous service as always and to Lucinda from One Fine Day for the images of the attendees, the class and their amazing pieces.
And last but not least, to the lovely ladies:
Teneale, Flita, Dale, Tumelo, Caro, Michelle, Sonja, Monette, Jennifer, Khali and Mene for your faith in me and coming along to have some fun learning together and growing this beautiful industry, one relationship at a time.
